Tired of Being Lost?

Many people ask me how do I navigate my life? How do I stay optimistic? How do I know what’s next and where to turn? The answer is not simple because I do not always know what is next or where I am going. However, I spend time in the presence of God and during this sacred time, it is revealed to my spirit what’s next. Sometimes, I know the whole plan and other times, I only know a small detail and I walk by faith. I have come to learn that a single moment can change a lifetime and it has the capacity to alter one’s reality. Think about how someone’s life alters the second they say “yes” to getting married- or the moment you received that news that was unexpected. Now imagine the sacredness of spending a moment in the presence of God. These seconds, minutes, or hours can be a catalyst used to change your life - not only in that specific time alone, but it has the capacity to change your life forever.

When you allow the Holy Spirit to come into your personal space at any given moment, it shifts your thoughts, attitudes, and opinions. These moments with God are a time to express both the cares and concerns as well as your joys and adoration unto God. They provoke dialogue that brings clarity about the happenings of our lives and serve as a great source of strength for growth and revelation. If you want to know what’s next, don’t go to your friends, family, colleagues or partners- go straight to God in prayer. I have learned that when I ask others the direction for my life, I end up more confused than when I started out. There’s nothing wrong with running ideas to people here or there, but make sure that God has given you the plan and not those around you playing “God”.

We must all remember that these sacred moments will not be handed to us. In this busy world, we must take out time for our spiritual growth in God, even if we have to schedule Him in organically, so that we do not miss the appointed time that is desired of us. In order for you to know the will of the Father for your life, you must be in position to listen and submit through prayer, scripture, and quality time. The Word declares to “Come near to God and He will come near to you” (James 4:8). So get closer to Him on this journey. Slow down and listen before you make any moves this year!

You are defined by what you do with your time. What you place your time, talents, and tithes into will be a reflection of your reality. Let’s place more time in our devotions with God, starting today! If you desire to see the spiritual productivity of your future, show me how you spend your time. Let’s strive to maximize the start of your day and energize the restlessness of your evening by renewing your heart, mind, and spirit by meditating with God, worshiping God, and activating your spiritual life in a way that is pleasing in the eyesight of the Lord. Remember, exercise strengthens the muscle as spiritual food strengthens our souls.

Prayer: Lord, I ask today that You grant me the desire to have sacred moments with You. I pray that you heighten my hunger and thirst for You so that I may grow in You daily. I do not desire to be busy and overwhelmed. Therefore, I ask that You allow Your Spirit to come inside of me. May my daily time with You change the way that I walk, talk, and think. Allow my light to shine, Lord. Amen.
